Dizziness & Vertigo (BPPV): Physiotherapy in Brno
Short, intense spinning when you turn over in bed or tip your head back? Or a constant unsteadiness linked to a stiff neck? Most types of dizziness can be resolved with physiotherapy — often quickly — without medication.
Dizziness has many causes, and they are treated very differently. Two of the most common — and most treatable — are positional vertigo from the inner ear (BPPV) and cervicogenic dizziness coming from the neck. Telling them apart is the first and most important step.
Vertigo from the ear (BPPV)
BPPV is the most common cause of vertigo. Tiny crystals in the inner ear come loose and trigger short, intense spinning with changes of head position. The good news: it usually resolves with simple repositioning manoeuvres (such as the Epley manoeuvre), often within days. No medication needed — the manoeuvre guides the crystals back into place.
Dizziness from the neck (cervicogenic)
Here the feeling is different — more of a constant unsteadiness or floating, linked to a stiff or painful neck and worse after long hours at a screen. According to studies, cervicogenic dizziness responds well to manual therapy of the neck combined with balance and eye-neck coordination training, with lasting results.
How I treat dizziness
First I assess which type you have — ear, neck, or a combination — using positional and neck tests. Then I choose the matching treatment: repositioning manoeuvres for BPPV, or manual therapy and coordination training for cervicogenic dizziness. The aim is to restore your confidence in space, not just to mask the symptom.

What patients say
After 10 years of knee pain, he solved the problem in a focused, practical way with almost immediate effect. Mr. Chalupa is the right person for the job — at the first visit he sets expectations and explains everything so the session is as effective as possible.
Filip Chalupa is a great physiotherapist — absolute top. I'm a professional athlete and I've been through the hands of a huge number of physiotherapists. I trust Filip and see him regularly.
I was scheduled for surgery on a damaged shoulder. Thanks to Filip I was eventually able to return to playing volleyball. He is thorough, looks for the root of the problem holistically, and respects the patient's physical limits.
I had been dealing with long-term back problems with many physiotherapists — mostly with only short-term effect. It was only with Mr. Chalupa that I achieved lasting, sustainable improvement.
Over the past 10 years I saw 5 physiotherapists. They always treated only the local area and helped only for a while. Mr. Chalupa looks for the cause of the problem, not just the symptoms. By far the best physiotherapist I've visited.
I visited Filip with a shoulder injury that had been bothering me for a couple of years. In the first visit I got a clear diagnosis and a plan, and things finally started improving.
