Plantar Fasciitis & Heel Spur: Physiotherapy in Brno

Sharp heel pain with your first steps in the morning? Plantar fasciitis rarely improves with stretching and rest alone — it responds best to targeted, progressive loading. Here's why, and how I treat it.

Plantar fasciitis is the most common cause of heel pain. The plantar fascia, a strong band of tissue under the foot, becomes overloaded and irritated. Many people are told to stretch and rest, but that often brings only short-term relief. The tissue needs to be gradually strengthened to regain its capacity — that is the key to lasting recovery.

Why stretching alone often isn't enough

Plantar fasciitis is not a simple inflammation that rest will cure. It is an overload problem of the tissue. Rest calms the pain, but as soon as you return to normal walking the fascia — now weaker — flares up again. According to studies, progressive strengthening of the fascia (high-load exercise) leads to better and faster outcomes than stretching alone.

Why the heel spur is usually not the culprit

Many people panic when an X-ray shows a heel spur. But a heel spur is often just a bystander — plenty of people have one without any pain, and plenty have plantar fasciitis without a spur. The pain comes from the overloaded fascia, not the spur itself. So we don't treat the picture, we treat the tissue and how it's loaded.

How I treat plantar fasciitis

1. Assessment

I identify what overloads the fascia — foot mechanics, calf tightness, footwear, a sudden increase in walking or running.

2. Load management

We temporarily reduce what irritates the fascia most, without going into full rest.

3. Progressive loading

The core of treatment: gradually strengthening the fascia and calf so the tissue regains capacity and the pain stops returning.

4. Habits and footwear

We address the everyday factors that keep the problem going.

Why treat it with me

  • Focus on the real cause — tissue overload — not just symptom relief.
  • Progressive loading backed by current evidence, not just stretching.
  • 90 minutes for the initial examination.
  • Rated 4.9 / 5 on Google from more than 70 reviews.
  • English-speaking therapist in the centre of Brno.
Please note: Persistent heel pain that doesn't improve, pain after an injury, or pain with swelling, redness and warmth should be assessed by a doctor to rule out other causes.

Initial examination & pricing

Treatment starts with an initial diagnostic examination. In 90 minutes I assess the problem, identify the cause, and we set a plan.

Payment in cash or by bank transfer. No cooperation with insurance companies — this lets me devote enough time to each client.

I was scheduled for surgery on a damaged shoulder. Thanks to Filip I was eventually able to return to playing volleyball. He is thorough, looks for the root of the problem holistically, and respects the patient's physical limits.

I had been dealing with long-term back problems with many physiotherapists — mostly with only short-term effect. It was only with Mr. Chalupa that I achieved lasting, sustainable improvement.

Over the past 10 years I saw 5 physiotherapists. They always treated only the local area and helped only for a while. Mr. Chalupa looks for the cause of the problem, not just the symptoms. By far the best physiotherapist I've visited.

I visited Filip with a shoulder injury that had been bothering me for a couple of years. In the first visit I got a clear diagnosis and a plan, and things finally started improving.
